Perceptions Storm

There is not much coming in
Through the poet's adulterated mind,
Through the brave new world's scientific fabrication,
Through the storm-tossed sea of information,
Through the gloss of image and sensation,
Through the view of novelty as creation.

There is not much coming in,
As this infidel, in this hurricane of time,
Batters senses, once kept pure, for perception;
As artists surf waves of brash imagination,
As their 'second nature' takes formation,
As souls fight tides of alienation.

What sea reclaims this species' nations?
