Earth, Emerson, and Foolishness of Stars

Emerson stumbled, leaving us this scar:
"Hitch your wagon to a star."

But, still, "things are in the saddle"; thus, we regather
Our faith in Earth; we haggle: to much more rather:

Hitch our wagon to the Earth:
Much more precious stuff than star--
And to our Soul, of Earthly birth--
Both, innately, close; estranged, now, afar.

Reconnect our instruments to the Earthly-old;
To our Earth-stuff, from which they're made;
Reconnect voice-song to the Earthly soul,
What City, does, ceremoniously, forbade.
